A simple guide to creating a successful blog

Are you planning to start a blog? Today, I’ll be sharing a simple guide to creating a successful blog.

In 2013, I started a fashion blog, but it didn’t last a year because I wasn’t consistent, and I didn’t even create it because I needed to. But because I saw other people doing it, and I felt I could do it too. Even though I didn’t understand how it really worked.

For this reason, it became a fiasco.

But last year, I finally decided to create another blog, but this time for the right reasons. And one of them is because of the revival of my passion for writing.

I wanted to share my ideas and the things that I love with the world.

Before beginning your adventure in blogging and creating a website; it is fundamental to understand your reason for wanting to start a blog.

Creating a blog and making it successful requires a lot of work, resources, and time. One of the reasons many blogs fail is because it is seen as a hobby (although there’s nothing wrong in this), but having a blog is a tremendous job.

You need to dedicate your time, be consistent, and be committed to it. It requires a great deal of effort.

Having a blog can change one’s life. It can help you personally and professionally.
Creating a blog can be a great way to earn money and on the other hand a nice way to share your passions online. One of the advantages of having a blog is being able to connect with millions of people. For this reason, I’ve been fortunate to meet amazing people through blogging.

Some people blog as a hobby, while some have a chance of putting food on their table or tripling their income through blogging.

If you are planning to make a profit from it, there are certain aspects you need to be conscious of.

Creating a blog is very easy; you don’t need to be a tech-savvy. All you need is a computer or your phone, and an internet connection.

Before you start setting up your blog, you need to first decide on a name for your domain (your website name), and your web hosting service provider.

Hosting is the space on a web server where you can store all your contents, and have full control of your your own blog.

I recommend using HostGator when you start your new blog because it is super affordable and reliable. It also makes it very easy to create a WordPress blog. HostGator additionally has one of the easiest to use control panels and quick WordPress installer.

HostGator offers 3 hosting plans:

  • Hatchling
  • Baby
  • Business

Its web hosting plans start from $2,95 per month to $5,95 per month as you can see in the image above. It’s left to you to pick the plan that best meets what you demand.

I personally recommend the Baby plan, which allows you to install unlimited domains in your hosting. But if this is your first blog, the Hatchling Plan is more than enough, as you have to install a single blog.

When you click the buy now button, you will be asked to enter the domain name of your website.

Your domain is one of the key elements of your blog. It shouldn’t be seen as just the name of your website, but it should represent you, and what your blog is all about.

Choose a simple domain name you can easily remember and If you already have a domain name, you can transfer it by clicking on I Already Own This Domain.

HostGator is now offering FREE DOMAINS for new customers! This offer is good on every new purchase of shared, OWP, and cloud hosting; Meaning that it is only valid for new customers.

How does the free domain offer work?

Anyone who signs up for a new 12+ month hosting plan for a shared, OWP, or cloud hosting will
get a free .com, .org, or .net domain for their first year.

This is a limited time offer and it will be ending September 13th at 11:59 PM.

I suggest you opt for an annual or higher subscription, in this way you will have a discount on the total.

It’s going to ask if you have a coupon code, to get a 60% discount type in “BUKOLAORRY60 in order for you to receive your discount!

  1. Thank you for providing such useful information. I started my blog about 2 months ago, I call it a variety/ inspirational blog. I actually just googled how to start a blog and WordPress came up. As I go along I’m learning so much, especially from you. Once my subscription is up, I will definitely try host gator.

  2. Thanks! This is great information. I will check out Host Gator. You’re doing an awesome job little sister. Blogging is a lot of work but it’s worth it. 😊❤️

  3. I agree with you sis., successful bloggers are passionate about “why” they started blogging. Following a trend isnt strong enough to keep one committed.

  4. Great post, when I first started blogging In 2014 it only lasted 10 months and I wasn’t consistent but since starting back this time I’m much better. You’re right, although it’s a good hobby it takes dedication to make blogging really work. Eventually I’d like to monetize but for now I really enjoy the simplicity of it all.

  5. This is a very helpful post for anyone looking into blogging. I’m grateful you were honest in saying, “blogging isn’t easy work.” People need to be aware just how many hours they will now be investing in their success. It is worth it in the end but seeing progress can take a long time.

It can get disheartening when you don’t see the results you expect. Keeping at it (if you believe in what you’re doing) and being consistent, like you said, just might change your life! Many blessings to you ♥
